If you told me one year ago that in one
year I would be teaching in Tasmania, more specifcally in a little town with no more than 50 inhabitants
. I would have said " haha , nice
joke!".Well...destiny leads us by different ways, and ending up in this
unforgettable island was one of the best things I lived. Not only I was having the
time of my life , but also I was helping other people. Waking up and see
turquoise water a few meters away , arriving to the school and hear the kids
shouting "Mister Science!" with huge smiles on their faces, hearing
their laughs while we played football all together were experiences
that I would never leave behind. I think Tasmania and her inhabitants taught me
more than I did to them, living as a friendly community, helping the others and
not be materialistic are things that I will always keep in my mind. Even if I don’t
return to Tasmania , Tasmania and those children will always be in my heart.
This “half gap year” made me grow as an individual, and I’m very grateful for
this. Oh! I almost forgot, during those 6 months I met a very special girl
called May , she is French and I fell in love with her. She is coming to
Uruguay next month and she might stay for a couple months, we dream of going
back to Australia and build our lives there.
